Little Miss. Lazy and Mint.com

Ok, so I'm confessing that I've been lazy lately. BUT!!! (and that's a huge but..;) ) I got really sick on Saturday of last week and I was pretty much down for the count until Wednesday. I'm still feeling sluggish and just not 100%, you know? I'm sure several of you have been the lucky bearer of whatever cold/flu has been going around and you can feel my pain. I've been frustrated because I haven't been updating my shop this week, which stinks, and I haven't blogged since last week. I didn't feel much inspiration though, to be honest. I was in bed, with a fever, coughing up a lung and sleeping the days away. Inspiration is hard to come by when you are drugged up (on the good, totally legal, kind of drugs) and haven't left the house in over 4 days. NO.FUN!

However, I'm getting better. I went and saw Muse Wednesday, which was awesome, (but probably didn't help me heal any faster), and I'm back on my bike. Yes, I ride my bike everyday, to and from work. It can be a little scary to do that in San Francisco, healthy or not, but I soldiered on and I'm still hoping to get those great "biker legs" that I'm assuming comes along with riding everyday. I'll keep you posted. *wink*

On a side note, Uncle Sam was not nice to me this year and budgeting has become even more important in my book. Awhile back I found an awesome website that helps you with budgeting, links your accounts (so you can see what you are spending, all in one place) and keeps you on track with email updates. Mint.com is really awesome and if you try to stick to a budget like I do, you will appreciate this TOTALLY FREE site. You are able to set different budget categories for yourself and decide how much you want to spend in each different area. For instance, if you want to only spend $100 in shopping this month, Mint.com will keep track of your purchases for you and categorize them as best as they can. If they mistake "Anthropologie" for a restaurant instead of a store, you can go in and re-categorize it yourself so that it always pulls from your "Shopping" budget. Say you don't spend that $100 you put aside for shopping, you can either roll it over to the next month (so you'll have $200) or you can keep it the same and see how much you are truly saving. OR, they will tell you that you've gone over, and it's no fun to see your budgets in the red. DUN DUN DUN dunnnnnn!!!!
Woohoo! You just set the limits and make necessary changes here and there, and the rest is done for you. Now THAT is pretty stinkin cool. Check out Mint.com and be on your way to a prettier bank account and less stress in your financial life. :) Let me know if you check it out and what you think. Do you have something better you do? I'd love to hear your ideas!

Have a very Happy (budget friendly) Friday!!

♥ D

  1. very cool Danae! I'll have to check that out! thanks for telling us about it.

I hope you feel better...I have so been there. The not leave the house for 4 days- that happens quite frequently around here, sick or not! :( Very depressing!

  2. Danae! What a fun blog :o) Miss you!

I love the idea of Mint, but they don't support our local bank (Centier). We've used www.mvelopes.com for four years and love it. It's not free, but it's inexpensive. I have a post about it somewhere on my blog...

So good to run into you in the blogosphere. Love you!

    xoxo,
    Jaime
