♥Mother's Day Jam ♥

As Mother's Day quickly approaches, some of you may be wondering what you can do for your mom to make it extra special. Most moms love the idea of you spending time with your hands on something homemade for them. It shows that you really put in some extra effort, which always means the world (I know it does to my mom).
Fresh fruit jam is a fun and sweet gift you can give almost any mom (or close woman in your life). Picking fruit that is in season will be your most inexpensive bet, but you can always spend a little more if you prefer something that is out of season. Here are some yummy in season fruit options:
For Spring:
*Apricots
*Mango's
*Pineapple
*Strawberries
For Summer:
*Blackberries
*Blueberries
*Peaches
*Raspberries
*Plums

Most, if not all of these, would make fantastic jam. *salivating*
Here are a few sites where you can find wonderful recipes:

For my Aunt Wanda's yummy Strawberry jam (I grew up on this stuff and it's STILL some of my all time favorite):

Mixed Berry Jam:

Mango Jam:

Apricot-Pineapple Jam:

Those were just a few ideas, and I'm sure if you browse the Internet you can find some really interesting concoctions.
Need some packaging ideas? Well, here ya go...

Jar options are pretty much endless, from small to large, and there are some pretty cute shapes out there too. (Check out your local hardware store or the Container Store) Cover the top with fabric, tie it off with ribbon or cording and place a homemade label on it. Not only will these look adorable and melt your mom's heart, but they will look pretty stinkin professional. And who knows, maybe one day you'll be selling your famous jam at a local Farmers Market. :)
As a little extra touch, buy a loaf of Brioche bread, wrap it in some parchment paper and give it along with your jam. So cute!

Happy jamming!

  1. What a sweet post...literally ;o) I love jam! And your Aunt Wanda's IS very good.

I didn't make jam for my mama, but I have been baking bread all morning and will be giving her one of her favorite breads tomorrow - cinnamon raisin walnut.

Wish I had time today to make one of these jams to go with it! Yum!
